A note from our Executive Director

Thank You

Thank you – two small words that carry a weight and emotion that sometimes cannot be expressed. In this instance, thank you, goes beyond my general thoughts of thanks and appreciation for our community, our staff, and those who support The Family Counseling Center.

Thank you to everyone who joined us at our second Fall Gala. I know that my words cannot do the night justice. Thank you to the sold-out crowd of community members who joined us. Thank you to the businesses and community members who sponsored the event. And thank you to the staff that made the evening possible. You will read a little more about our Gala in this issue but, to say that the evening was a success, would be an understatement. We raised a record amount of money. The live auction to help raise $30,000 to replace our Domestic Violence shelter’s roof brought in an unprecedented amount and brought the entire room to tears.

As always, I cannot express enough how grateful we are to you, our partners and our donors. Thank you.

Best wishes,

Michael

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Across the nation, October is recognized as Domestic Violence Awareness Month, an opportunity to educate communities on domestic abuse, share the stories of survivors, and publicize resources available to individuals, friends, and families. The Domestic Violence Program of Fulton County at The Family Counseling Center has a month full of advocacy and outreach planned. Their theme is that Not All Abuse is Physical and includes a concerted effort to educate the communities of Fulton County about the lesser known, but far too prevalent, forms of domestic abuse.
