Summer Adventures
In the Southern Adirondacks and Mohawk Valley we recognize how important each and every season is. In the autumn we are surrounded by the masterpiece of changing leaves, the tasty outings at local apple orchards, and the fun of craft fairs. In the winter we get out on snowmobiles, skis, and snowshoes and celebrate the crisp (frigid) air and snow that surrounds us. In the spring, we start to plot and plan about gardens, flowers, and warmer days. And, in the summer, we have epic adventures on lakes, in forests, and in our backyards.
Nature can have an significant impact on our moods and our mental health. Some of us experience seasonal depression, anxiety about change, and so much more. But not matter what, getting outside for a few minutes a day and taking a couple of quiet breaths, closing our eyes and listening to the sounds of birds chirping, children playing, or the leaves rustling in the wind can bring calm and joy.
No matter what adventures this summer brings – from fishing in the Cayadutta to reading a book on your front porch – we hope it is full of calm and joy.
As always, I cannot express enough how grateful we are to you, our partners and our donors. Your support allows us to work with 4,500 clients a year. Thank you.
Best wishes,
Michael
Update: Girls Circle
A few months ago we reached out to you asking for your help. Girls Circle is a national best-practices program to help young girls make connections, improve their social-emotional learning, and begin to self-advocate. THANK YOU to everyone who gave. Because of your help, we were able to purchase the Girls Circle curriculum and we were able to find funds to add the Boys Circle as well.
Your donations have a major impact in the programming we are able to provide to our community – and the impact we have in the lives of the children and families we serve. Please consider making a donation today.
Around Town
As you drive around Gloversville, Amsterdam, the lakes, and farther afield, you may have noticed a few of our signs out and about. The Family Counseling Center is currently having a major hiring push. We have positions available in nearly every department in the agency but our biggest need is for trained and qualified Outpatient Mental Health Therapists. Do you know someone who would be a great fit at our organization?
