Join us as we participate in #GivingTuesday
The Family Counseling Center will be participating in #GivingTuesday on November 30, 2021.
#GivingTuesday is an international day of action that helps to raise funds for nonprofits and has become a major opportunity to engage community members in support of local organizations.
The Family Counseling Center’s #GivingTuesday efforts will be focused on raising funds to help cover the cost of service for clients in need. Each year, the organization donates roughly $84,450 in either free or reduced-cost sessions for people who pay out-of-pocket – clients who are unable to cover the full cost of service due to high insurance premiums or lack of insurance.

Clients who receive free or reduced-cost sessions apply for assistance through the organization’s Sliding Fee Scale application. These clients seek care but due to circumstances must pay out of pocket though they may not have the money to cover their treatment – treatment that will help to keep them active and engaged members of the community. It’s a tough decision – do they forgo the help they need to improve their life or do they ask for help? Help for their emotional wellbeing, and help to pay?
The Family Counseling Center is asking for the community’s help during #GivingTuesday in order to reach their goal of raising $2,600 during the course of November 30, 2021. The goal amount is equivalent to 20 full sessions to community members in need and is only a small portion of the roughly 650 free sessions the organization offers over the course of a year.
“We are excited to participate in this year’s #GivingTuesday,” said Michael Countryman, Executive Director of The Family Counseling Center. “Our clients make courageous steps each day to build a healthy life. The Sliding Fee Scale program provides many of our clients with needed services, services they would otherwise be unable to afford.”
Community members are invited to help The Family Counseling Center reach its goal of $2,600. Donations are accepted online here. Information will be posted throughout the day on the organization’s Facebook page on November 30, 2021 with more detailed donation information.
